My Story

Hello, and welcome to my website,

I’m Janette Doyle, an Australian realist artist. I work in many different genres and have an interest in wildlife and nature. Being interested in art at a young age, I would enter competitions and frequently win prizes. Leaving high school, I decided to follow a career path in nursing.

I’ve been an artist for many years, largely self taught, I had not pursued formal art training until 2011, and studied visual arts in Melbourne, Australia.

Inspired by nature, my work has been influences by the beauty within nature itself. I excelled in art and love interpreting each animals special characteristics. I regularly visit the reserves in my home town of Warrandyte, Victoria, to explore the animal and bird life in their natural habitat.

Kookaburras, Lorikeets, King Parrots, Galahs and other birds frequent our balcony at home and I create work which conveys a great affection for my subjects.

Developing skills further, I’m wanting to focus on how a painting can sway emotions in people and ultimately bring peace and comfort to them.

I’ve created pieces of art from places I’ve been, pets and reference material provided to me from friends where subjects may contribute to the painting, portrait or commission and I’m grateful!

In the beginning I favoured acrylics, until my visual art diploma pushed me to paint in oils. I’ve painted in acrylics, pastels, oil and even a touch of watercolour. Oils have taken over as favourite.

I believe in an awesome God! If I can portray, in a painting, a fraction of what God has created, then I am well pleased.

Tranquil Timeout - Kookaburra

Tranquil Timeout - Australian Laughing Kookaburra

One of my favourites, an acrylic of an iconic, Australian laughing Kookaburra. Hearing one of these beauties cackling in the bush always makes your day that much brighter. I named this piece ”Tranquil Timeout” and I was honoured by winning Best Show Theme at the Lilydale Agricultural and Horticultural Society - Annual Spring Show.
